Purging Voters as posted on Verified Voting of New Mexico's email list on Yahoo at
Did you know that according to the Bureau of Elections over 200,000 voters are going to put on the inactive list from the Bernalillo County before the upcoming national election? Did you move since the last time you voted? Did you change your registration? If so, you may learn the definition of the term, disenfranchised. The 200,000 includes those voters that recently were sent identification cards and the cards were returned as undeliverable.
The county clerks and the state elections officials count on you to tell them when and if you move, get married, or on your families to tell them when you die. I am pleased to find that they do not follow us around. What can we do about the people who don't know that the President's surveillance system does not share what they know about us with our county clerks?
Since we know that Bernalillo County may lose 200,000 voters who voted in recent elections we have to ask how many voters statewide are affected. I am sure that people in Jal, Deming, Clayton, Raton, and Socorro do not move around as much as the people in Albuquerque do. Unfortunately Las Cruces, Farmington, Roswell, Santa Fe, and Rio Rancho house the majority of New Mexican citizens and they also have higher rates of people who move around. What would the statewide number be? Could it be over 400,000? Even if we take a conservative estimate and guess 300,000 voters being purged we need to be shocked. I know that we did not have 300,000 New Mexicans die over the last several years. This means that many eligible voters are not going to be able to vote in the upcoming election.
This is certainly is a justification for Same Day Registration.
